RSQ Test Labs | Product Reliability, Safety, and Compliance Testing

About us

We are RSQ-Labs. Established in 2022 as a separate branch within the Sofeast Group

RSQ-Labs serves companies of all sizes, from early-stage startups to large multinationals that have a specialized request and are in need of reliability engineering services and product testing for all kinds of electro-mechanical products and more.

We have 20+ engineers and technicians who support our customers with all of their testing and analysis needs.

We’re 100% European-owned and are run by an on-site European and American management team.

Our speciality is reliability, compliance, and safety testing for various products, especially electro-mechanical products in the consumer, medical, and aerospace fields.

Our clients often require product design support, too. At the Sofeast Group, we employ China and India-based R&D engineers who work in different business units and can help our clients review issues related to their prototype, manufacturing, testing and field failure issues.

We work with these types of clients…

We often work with SMEs, entrepreneurs, and hardware startups who have little or no knowledge of reliability engineering methodologies and who lack reliability engineering resources. They rely on us to evaluate their product’s reliability needs and conditions and testing needs and we advise them on further analysis as needed.

We also work with larger organizations that have a specific need that is not well covered by large testing labs.

Some of our clients already know exactly what they need and we are happy to support their needs, too.

Lorem Ipsum

Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry’s standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged.

CEO

What do we do for you and why?

RSQ-Labs is geared towards reliability engineering, compliance and safety engineering and, of course, testing services.

We are a one-stop reliability, safety, and compliance testing service provider, and we offer you a full testing package or just individual services.

Product Reliability Testing

Our reliability test labs are equipped with the state of the art reliability test equipment such as atmospheric conditioning chambers for temperature, humidity, and thermal shock tests, UTM (universal test machines), RCA abrasion tester, insertion force tester, key life tester, drop testing and package drop machines, alcohol rubbing friction test machine, vibration tester, and many more!

If you don’t have any experience with reliability; no worries, we can create the custom test cases appropriate to your product, or use an industry standard to create them.

We can then create your product reliability test plan and then it’s ready to conduct the tests in the test plan.

Once the tests are completed, we will provide you with a detailed report with a Pareto analysis of failures and recommendations based on that analysis.

Reliability Engineering Services

These reliability engineering services are typically done early in the product design and development process, such as:

Here are some of the engineering services that we can provide.:

Components Engineering

Our product engineers also provide components engineering support.

A product can only be reliable if the sum of components used in that product are also reliable. Our engineering team will evaluate the components used in your product and will recommend perhaps a more reliable component that can last at least the warranty period and contribute to your product’s reliability life, durability and customer satisfaction.

Product Safety Testing

We also offer safety consultation and testing, such as safety analysis, safety proofing, fire retardant, chemical analysis, hazardous material analysis, RoHS analysis, and design for safety analysis.

We also use chemical analysis spectrometers to test the chemical makeup of products to assure their safety.

Product Compliance Testing

We also provide regulatory compliance testing such as for FCC, UL, CE, and UKCA certification.

No matter which country you need to sell your product in, our technical team will research* and provide you with the list of tests that your product will need to undergo to be compliant to sell in those regions, as well as a quotation and timeline for completing the tests.

*This research may be charged.

How long does a compliance testing project usually take?

This varies widely from one project to another. It may just take a few days if the plan is simple and straightforward. It may take a few months in extreme cases, depending on the product's complexity and level of testing.

How much does compliance testing cost?

Again, costs are highly variable per project as everyone’s product has different compliance testing and certification requirements. However, even in cases where the client’s needs are unclear and require some analysis & research, we will give you a rough quotation following an initial discussion.

What equipment is our lab equipped with?

In general, our lab is equipped with state-of-the-art testing equipment such as drop test, scratch test, repeatable touch screen test, temperature and humidity chambers, as well as waterproofing and dust proofing, package level, salt fog test, and many other types of equipment besides.

We also conduct other services such as HALT analysis including creating your HALT profile for the purpose of analyzing the product’s reliability limits, fatigue testing, and testing the product’s durability level.

We can provide a HASS testing service to screen the production product for a minimum level of reliability that meets your design requirements.

We can also provide UV analysis for your product or materials to simulate color fading due to sunlight.

We cover almost every engineering test your product is likely to require. Each project is unique, so the testing plan you require will be different from someone else’s. However, please get in touch with us and we’ll be happy to have a conversation about the types of testing and equipment that should be used to test your product.

Here are photos of some of our most-often used test equipment:

Horizontal Insertion Force Testing

Inserting a part into another for a number of cycles. E.g. USB drive into a port. The goal is to assure it still fits well & no deformations or other issues appear.

Key Life Test

Pressing many times on keys/buttons, to make sure they will still function as expected after many cycles of use

Alcohol Rubbing Friction Test

Used to test if many types of coatings will remain on the product or will disappear quickly with ‘wear and tear’

RCA Abrasion Test

Mainly used to test if silk screen coating will remain on the product or will disappear quickly with ‘wear and tear’

Guided Drop Tester

Allows drop testing to check the integrity and durability of products and their unit packing (such as gift boxes) by testing impacts from different angles

thermal shock test chamber
Thermal Shock Test Chamber

This chamber inflicts alternating cold and hot temperatures on products to simulate failures caused by similar thermal shocks during normal use. Temperatures alternate rapidly at around 15 °C per minute.

Pocket Abrasion Tester

Allows us to replicate the expected abrasion effect that occurs when a product is used (e.g. inserted in a user’s pocket), with different settings available. Ideal for mobile phones, pens, wallets, etc.

Spectral Analysis Device

This device is used to check a product’s electronic design (on a functional prototype) to evaluate how likely it is to pass FCC certifications so that we can make adjustments to increase that likelihood.

Salt Spray Test Chamber

Our salt spray test machine confirms that corrosion is not likely to appear quickly on your product if it is exposed to humidity during its lifetime and use by consumers. This test is very common for metal products.

XRF Scanner for Chemical Analyses

This XRF scanner allows us to perform chemical analyses of products and is also used to partially confirm compliance with RoHS and REACH. (Note: EU doesn’t have requirements on which lab issues documents to establish compliance and it can be done by any actor in the supply chain as long as data is recorded).

UV testing machine

The UV testing machine is a device used to measure and assess how components and materials perform when subjected to UV radiation over time, to mimic being used in sunlight.

Earphone Audio Curve Tester

This testing device measures and analyzes the frequency response of headphones and earphones, demonstrating how they reproduce different sound frequencies. We use it to assess their performance and uncover audio output problems or imbalances.

Vibration testing machine

Our vibration machine (with vertical and horizontal vibration modes of up to 3kHz) allows us to cover ISTA the vibration requirements of ISTA 1, 2, and 3 standards for many products of up to 50kg.
